Conservation

Conservation Efforts

There are lots of conservation efforts going on at the Porter’s Forestland. These efforts help us to create clean air, clean water, and a healthy forest for all.

These efforts include –

Conservation Easements

Recreational Hunting

Carbon Capture

Wildlife Management

CARBON CAPTURE

Forests Naturally store and use carbon from the atmosphere, making them an important tool in the battle against climate change.

What is a Conservation Easement

Conservation easements protect the land we love forever.

Conservation easements eliminate or limit the development of rural lands.

The land owner can continue to manage their land for forestry or agriculture and other open space purposes. A BIG WIN-WIN!

Just think how important these conserved lands will be 50, 100 even 500 years from now!

Hunting

Hunting is an important part of effective forest management and it contributes to many different conservation efforts in and around forestland. Revenues from Hunting often help to fund habitat restoration and preservation projects as hunters have a vested interest in keeping these habitats intact.

Conservation Groups

The forest products industry is a huge contributor to the economy and lifestyle in South Carolina. Many trade associations and conservation organizations focus on creating a common voice to strengthen the success of the industry. Special conservation organizations focus on their own interests to ensure those areas are pursued appropriately. Examples:
